For the life of me, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a second gen Aurora before. I didn’t get a picture, because I was driving, but I haven’t wanted to take a picture while driving so badly since the time I saw a Ferrari with a non-custom plate that started “AMG.”

I don’t think it’s the worst thing ever. The front is a little Pontiac-y, but the rear is fine. And it had a 4.0 V8, with all of 250 HP. It would have dusted my Town Car.

Let’s all take a moment to pretend that Olds still exists as that thing between Pontiac and Buick.

People think I’m crazy, but I promise that one day we’ll all look back at the late-90s–early-2000s as a great time in car design. Those heady days before Europe destroyed our car hoods, ride height didn’t need to be commanding, rear windows were meant to be seen out of, and one make’s blob didn’t look like another’s.

I had one of these. It was fast as shit and luxurious, but rediculously unreliable. The first gen I bought after it was a 1000% better car.

I still miss Oldsmobile. They had a great emblem, and they had a concept car that was clearly modeled on an alien from Alien.

Wow this is weird. I saw one earlier today and was like ‘damn I haven’t seen one of those in ages. I should take a picture and post it’ but I couldn’t get to my phone quick enough.

Oh and just to bring it full circle. That 406 Coupe has basically the same wheels as the first gen Aurora.

My first car was a first gen Aurora. Loved that car, but I drove it much too hard as 16 year olds do and blew the trans. Thing was an under-steering pig as well.
